I am currently taking bookings for September and beyond, so do ring me or email over the holidays if you would like to talk about this.

Below is a sketch of what my business offers....I'm possibly a little unusual in that I run a tuition business, but I do also have solid mainstream teaching experience and examining behind me. Read on !
One to one or small group tuition in...
English and English Literature: year 7 upwards, to include GCSE, AS and A2 - all boards. For ongoing support, re-takes or private/home-schooled students. It might be that your child is a bit stuck in school or it might be that they are really struggling: I will do my level best to help you and, as a mum of three, I know that trying to help our own offspring with their work can be excruciating!
I constantly adapt -at the moment there's lots to absorb because of what Michael Gove's up to - and I offer full administrative support to parents: where a GCSE might not be possible (for example in the case of a fully home schooled student), I will teach students the IGCSE English Language/Literature courses and enter them as private candidates at a local centre with which I have good links. Parents need to be aware that few centres will accept 'external' candidates, so I will guide you through what to do.
I teach the syllabus of every exam board for...English Language/English/English Literature GCSE and IGCSE; I can help with the 'Functional Skills' English certificate and the English/English Language and English Literature A level courses and also...because I am very gradually (well, what with three young children, paying the bills and what have you...) writing up an MLitt/Phd, I can do a little work with you if you are getting a bit stuck at university or even doing an MA. In short, there's a lot I will do and love to do. And although it's not the convention to say so, sometimes it really helps students and their parents when they learn that I might view sharing my subject as a vocation, but I am somebody who did not thrive until quite late on in education. So I hope I have an inkling of how it impacts - how it feels- if your child feels awkward, resentful or lonely in their educational setting. My approach is often necessarily holistic.
Art History at AS/A2
Psychology at AS/A2
Theatre Studies/Drama at GCSE/AS/A2
Help with your university applications - for example, choosing an English course or, for any subject, writing a personal statement for your UCAS form.
Oxbridge preparation. I'll devise an extended reading course to stretch and challenge you...
Preparation for the English component of entrance papers for independent schools.
If you need help in a subject and I cannot help, I'll happily suggest someone else for you to contact. I am currently building up a bank of tutors to whom we can refer students. If you already tutor or would like to, give me a call. I can also suggest who to contact if, for example, you want to find an educational psychologist, ask advice about dyslexia or understand which professionals to call if you are worried about your child's anxiety levels. I speak from personal as well as professional experience in these areas and do excellent tea and cake if you need to talk over your concerns.
